The Carolina Ballroom Club has been teaching ballroom dancing to USC students, faculty, and staff for over a decade. We welcome anyone interested in learning the art of partner dancing. General dues are $20 per semester and can be paid in cash or a check made out to Gamecock Dancesport. Competitors'/Advanced class dues are $30 total per semester because of the additional professional help given. You need only fill out a waiver and pay your dues to join.
Some of us enjoy performing and competing. Some of us just enjoy the social aspects of dancing. All of us dance for fun. Come, join us!
We have three meeting times throughout the week. Come join us when you can; just understand the later you join us, the more difficult the moves will be.
- Sunday we have the Beginner and Intermediate classes -- 3:30-5pm in the Blatt PE Center, Room 114 and 107 respectively. Pamela Melton, our Advisor, and some of the more advanced dancers teach this class. Also, we will be bringing in professional dancers from time to time to supplement what we've already learned.
- Friday evenings, there are two Salsa Rueda sessions in Blatt 114.
- 8-9:30pm for Beginners (Advanced students will teach this)
- 9:30-11pm for Advanced. Ken and Zenaida Broom come bi-monthly to challenge us with new and exciting moves.
We head out to the Salsa Cabana after class at least once a month for some super times!
- Thursday evenings is the Competitors class. We train for four or more competitions each year:
- our own Gamecock Invitational
- Triangle Open in Raleigh, NC
- Charlotte Open in North Carolina
If you have any interest in competing, please come. Sheila Brown, a highly accomplished professional ballroom dancer, will be coming in from time to time to drill us. We meet from 9-11pm, Blatt 114.
